Smarthinking Online Tutoring
Smarthinking is an online tutoring service that Springfield College in Illinois is making available to its students. Smarthinking provides tutoring in mathematics (basic math through Calculus including Bilingual Math), Biology, Intro Human A & P, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Accounting, Intro to Finance, Statistics, Spanish, and Writing. With Smarthinking you can:
- Connect With an e-structor and interact with a live tutor.
- Submit your Writing for any class to their Online Writing Lab.
- Submit a Question and receive a reply from a tutor.
Getting Started
1. To use SMARTHINKNG you must be pre-registered. Pre-registration occurs in one of two ways:
a. a faculty member can enter a pre-registration request for their entire class by sending the class roster to smarthinking@sci.edu. The request must include the required information listed below, and will be processed in approximately 24 hours.
b. a student can request their own account. Simply email the Resource Center at smarthinking@sci.edu and request an account with the following required information:i. Firstname
ii. Lastname
iii. Phone Number
iv. Zip Code
v. Username (student’s sci email log on- i.e. firstname_lastname. So Mary Smith’s sci log on is mary_smith@sci.edu). If you do not know you sci log on, please contact Information Technology (helpdesk@sci.edu) or dial (217) 525-1420, ext. 323 .
vi. Password – select a password that you will remember, it can be the same as your sci password.
2. Requests will be turned around in 24-48 hours.
3. You will be notified via your sci.edu email account when your SMARTHINKING account has been activated.
4. If you need further information or assistance, please contact a RC tutor at ext. 320.
5. Once your account is completed you can access SMARTHINKING from the sign-in box on this page or at www.smarthinking.com.
If you need to install Flash, go to http://www.macromedia.com, and follow the instructions for the free download.
